Ratings:Robert Parker 95, James Suckling 95, Wine Specator 95, Vivino 4.2
The Altesino 2016 Brunello di Montalcino is ripe and round with lots of pretty textural richness and juicy fruit flavors. These qualities tie in nicely with the character of the vintage that saw long and hot summer days. Dark fruit, plum and blackcurrant pave the way for savory spice, tobacco and limestone. The effect is soothing and rich, and the wine remains perfumed and silky to the end. The tannins are well managed in this hot-vintage wine. Fruit is sourced over 25 hectares of vines with tufo soils and alberese rock.

Description
Description
Located in the heart of southern Tuscany, Altesino is an estate whose exceptional terroir was designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2004.
With its high regard for the vines and the surrounding nature, this estate excels in the production of fine Brunello di Montalcino DOCG wines, one of the main appellations in Italy. A forerunner, the Altesino estate introduced two major innovations within the appellation, the concept of "cru" in 1975 and barrel vinification in 1979.
Over the last forty years an intense relationship has been developed with the land full of history, with its almost sensual beauty that is physically perceived and its subtle charm that reaches the body and soul. This is the philosophy that inspires Altesino to produce wine and maintain its culture.
