Spices, such as cloves and white pepper, with violets and dark fruit follow through to a full body with firm, chewy tannins and a polished yet intense finish. Open tannins. An ash-like undertone to it. Best after 2027.

Petit Haut Lafitte, 2nd Wine of Ch. Smith Haut Lafitte, 2019

Vintage:2017
Size: 750ml
Ratings: Robert Parker 92, James Suckling 94, Wine Enthusiast 93

The tannins have softened and the wine now has a beautiful satin texture. There is a subtle, underlying warmth that makes it rise far above its supposed rank in the Médoc hierarchy.

Clearly an outstanding, generous, perfectly ripe wine with sumptuous finesse.

Description

Description
The joy and spontaneity of moments shared with loved ones. An impromptu lunch with friends is the perfect occasion to open a bottle of Pagodes de Cos. It is reminiscent of the simple pleasures of life, like homemade blackcurrant syrup, a bowl of just-picked red cherries or a freshly opened jar of citrus jam. Pagodes de Cos is at once indulgent, comforting and vivacious, like a carefree conversation with family or friends in a familiar place.
Tasting Notes

Blend Ratio (Estimate): 30% Merlot, 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Petit Verdot

Soft and seductive on the palate, going on to show magnificently well-defined flavours of wild berries, blackcurrant, and cinnamon. A real treat! The tannins have softened and the wine now has a beautiful satin texture. There is a subtle, underlying warmth that makes it rise far above its supposed rank in the Médoc hierarchy.

Clearly an outstanding, generous, perfectly ripe wine with sumptuous finesse.

Grape Blend: 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot

"The 2014 Lynch Moussas was actually more expressive than the 2014 Batailley on the nose with lifted redcurrant, cranberry and wild strawberry scents mingling with sous-bois and tobacco. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and a keen line of acidity, well balanced with attractive smoke and tobacco notes complementing the red berry fruit on the finish. This has good potential, a Pauillac that is likely to be underappreciated by the market, yet to register the improvement at the Castèja family's estate."
