A touch of softness in the valley of extremes.

Founded in 1859, Ogier is located in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, in the heart of the most prestigious appellation in the south of France.
In order to understand the subtle variations of the terroirs of the appellation and the Rhone Valley’s, Ogier studied the four different soil types of the several appellations and duly adapted its vinification and maturation methods to these.

The clusters are either partially or fully de-stemmed, depending on the age of the vine, and the extraction is as gentle as possible in order to further the vatting period and encourage the extraction of smooth tannins. This original technique, which we refer to as ‘gentle rack and return’, allows us to extract the juices from the marc lending further strength and depth to our wines.
Our oenologist, Edouard Guérin (Pictured below), decides on the final blend according to the grape's quality harvested from some of the fifteen grape varieties of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Purity of Fruit
Although some of our wines, both the reds and the whites, are aged in concrete vats to preserve the purity of the fruit, most of our red crus benefit from oak ageing… subject to certain conditions.
Our objective is to retain the character of the wine whilst imparting finesse and freshness.

Our palette of interventions is very broad and our cellars form a part of our heritage in the same way that our vines do. We are therefore able to give each cuvée what it needs, in line with what this new harvest has given us, in order to produce such a highly pleasurable and easy to drink style of wine that has come to define Maison Ogier.
