Brancaia is a Tuscan estate in the Chianti Classico area known for its wines from the Maremma region on the Tuscan coast. Founded in 1981, it is a critically acclaimed producer of Tuscan blends known for the high quality of its wines as well as its distinctive modern labels.

Ilatraia is the top wine of the estate and made like a classic Left Bank Bordeaux . It is full-bodied with great freshness, precision and elegance.

A deep and youthful magenta color, the 2021 Ilatraia comes from Maremma-based vines. It is saturating on the nose with aromas of lavender oils, rosemary, plum, gravelly earth, and toasted cedar. The palate is fleshy and full with plush tannins, generous ripe fruit through the midpalate and finish, and pleasing mineral accents on the finish to lift it off the palate. It is going to benefit from another year in bottle to shed its more primary character.

Ideal with dishes with balanced, intense flavors, with meat and game dishes (fried or braised), with poultry such as pigeon or pheasant. Our favorite: fresh tagliatelle with wild boar ragout.
