Description

From Médoc above all, Duluc de Branaire-Ducru draws the deep character of its aromas in its blend: In Branaire-Ducru, the requirement and the expression of a “house style” apply to both labels, Branaire-Ducru for the great wine and Duluc de Branaire-Ducru for the second wine.

The grapes with the highest potential are generally found in the great wine. Others, especially those from the youngest vineyards of the estate, form the backbone of Duluc de Branaire-Ducru. In both cases the grapes come from the vineyard located in the Saint-Julien appellation. Vines are conducted in the same way and the grapes are vinified according to the same criteria. It is only after repeated tastings of all the vats and appreciation of their deep character that the final selection is decided.

Tasting Notes

Blend Ratio (Estimate): 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot

A mixture of red and black fruit on the nose, suffused with tobacco and pleasant undergrowth aromas, perhaps just missing the precision of the Beychevelle at the moment. The palate is supple on the entry with a slightly grainy texture, the acidity well judged, a little edginess towards the finish that just needs to must more depth, more drive. Not bad for the vintage, although I would like to see some improvement in bottle. Tasted twice with consistent notes

Serving Suggestions

Ideal with Pork, Beef and Lamb meat. Perfect match with Asian dishes, hearty fish courses like tuna, salmon, mushrooms and pasta as well as cheese.
