When the first wafts of this wine hit the nose, it takes me straight back to when my grandma used to bake chocolate self-saucing pudding for ‘sweets’ and serve it with freshly picked local Marlborough black cherries, the sweet fruit character of the cherries went perfectly with the grippy bitterness of the pure cocoa, throw this in with the opulent smells of the summer roses growing outside the kitchen window to really round off the nose.

The palate however, gives the impression of black Doris plum jam with a toasty oak texture, the drying of the tannins mix wonderfully with finely balanced spices and fresh acidity you get in quality homemade jam
