Description

A distinguished Grand Cru Classé of the 1855 classification, Château Giscours is one of the celebrated estates of Margaux, renowned for wines that combine elegance, perfume and finesse with impressive depth and structure.

Dating back to the 16th century, the estate is set among the gravelly terroirs of the Médoc, where exceptional drainage and heat-retaining soils provide ideal conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon. Meticulous vineyard work and precise winemaking allow Giscours to express the character of its remarkable terroir.

The style is quintessentially Margaux: fragrant and refined, with layers of dark fruit, floral complexity, spice and beautifully polished tannins. Graceful yet structured, Château Giscours offers both immediate charm and excellent potential for bottle ageing.

Tasting Notes

Grape Blend: 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot

The 2021 Giscours has turned out beautifully, wafting from the glass with aromas of dark berries and licorice mingled with hints of violet and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and suave, it's seamless and enveloping, with good depth at the core, beautifully polished tannins and a long, perfumed finish. This is one of the real successes of the vintage.
Parker Wine Advocate 94+pts

Very precise and focused with tight, sleek yet firm tannins, framing a fresh core of black fruit, gravel and tobacco. Crushed stones and tea leaves, too. Savory and medium-bodied. Driven and linear. Lots of cabernet character. Chewy tannins. muscular and polished texture.
James Suckling 94-95pts

Serving Suggestions

Best paired with all types of classic meat dishes, veal, pork, beef, lamb, duck, game, roast chicken, roasted, braised, and grilled dishes.
