Château la GAFFELIERE 2019

Château La Gaffelière is a historic, highly prestigious wine estate located just south of the medieval village of Saint-Émilion on the Right Bank of Bordeaux.

The estate spans roughly 22 hectares of vineyards located in Saint-Émilion's coveted "golden triangle," nestled ideally between the hills of Château Ausone and Château Pavie.

 The Grand Vin is a Merlot-dominant blend (typically 70–80% Merlot balanced by 20–30% Cabernet Franc). Merlot provides richness and flesh, while a high proportion of Cabernet Franc imparts an elegant floral lift, fine structure, and strong aging potential.

Château La Gaffelière was originally classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé B in the inaugural 1955 Saint-Émilion classification. However, in June 2022, La Gaffelière made global headlines by withdrawing from the Saint-Émilion classification system. It demonstrates the confidence of the estate to stand on its own independent of the classification.
