Description

Located in the Pomerol appellation, Château Nenin vineyards cover 32 hectares on the Pomerol plateau, characterized by clay and gravel soils, including iron-rich, siliceous clay.

In 1997, it was acquired by the Delon family who also own Château Leoville Las Cases on the Left Bank. Since then, the estate has undergone significant restructuring to improve quality and modernize its cellars.

Château Nénin produces, rich, fleshy, and elegant wines. They often feature notes of black cherry, plum, truffles, and cocoa, with a graphite minerality. The wines are often described as having a "Left Bank" profile due to their structure and aging potential, despite being on the Right Bank.

The Grand Vin is aged for 14–18 months in oak barrels, roughly 30-40% new. The estate also produces a second wine, Fugue de Nenin

Tasting Notes

The 2021 Nenin is a decided overperformer, bursting from the glass with notes of dark berries, plums and cherries, complemented by exotic top notes of rose petals, violets, Indian spices and orange zest. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and velvety, it's lively and polished, with a layered core of fruit and a long, perfumed finish.

Robert Parker Wine Advocate 93pts

his has aromas and flavors of dark fruit, bark, chocolate, cedar and mushrooms. The palate is medium- to full-bodied, with a fleshy texture around the chewy and polished tannins. Needs time to soften, as it’s a little austere now. Best after 2026.
