Description

One of the most recognizable Bordeaux estates, Chateau Pontet Canet covers 81hectares in Pauillac and is a classified 5th Growth. It is made up of 100 sub-plots and 800,000 vines overlooking the Gironde Estuary. To its north, Pontet Canet has two prestigious first growths - Mouton Rothschild and Lafite.

In 1975, the estate was purchased by Guy Tesseron, a wine grower from Cognac. In 1994, Guy entrusted the management of the estate to his son Alfred Tesseron, who had worked alongside him for twenty years.

Pontet-Canet is the first renowned large-scale Bordeaux wine estate to venture into organic and biodynamic farming, was also the first among the Grands Crus Classés to be awarded double certification for the whole vineyard.

Tasting Notes

A stunning wine for this vintage although it’s still a bit shy on the nose (more spice than fruit showing than now). There’s wet earth, too, but on the palate it’s bursting with ripe yet subtle flavors. Very long and complex finish that goes on and on.

Serving Suggestions

Best paired with all types of classic meat dishes, veal, pork, beef, lamb, duck, game, roast chicken, roasted, braised, and grilled dishes.
