Description

Chateau Troplong Mondot is a classified St. Emilion, Premier Grand Cru Classe winery. Its colorful history in Saint Emilion dates back to the 17th century. In those days, it was the property of Abbe Raymond de Seze. It was de Seze who created the beautiful chateau that remains at Troplong Mondot today.

Troplong Mondot dominates the landscape. Located at the highest point of the appellation, its ‘terroir’ benefits from an exceptional 360° exposure and incomparable soil complexity.

In this atypical panorama, the vineyard is part of a natural heritage whose biodiversity is a long-standing reality. As the outcome of this perfect balance, the wines reflect the estate’s riches and reveal an identity like no other.

Tasting Notes

Grape Blend: 90% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc

The 2014 Troplong-Mondot performed to my expectation now that the wine is in bottle. It has a refined bouquet with black cherries, raspberry preserve and mineral scents that gain intensity in the glass, but never get carried away. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, tensile in the mouth but surprisingly linear and conservative, at least in the first half. It is fresh and precise, then delivers the weight and concentration as it fans out on the finish, a residue of white pepper tingling on the aftertaste. This is a delicious Troplong Mondot that should age with style and grace
