Description

The Colombini family has owned lands in Montalcino since 1352, and the Fattoria dei Barbi since the end of the 18th century. The property extends over 350 hectares of fields and vineyards in southern Tuscany, in Montalcino, Scansano and in Chianti. We have been producing Brunello since 1892 and we were the first to export it to Europe, America and Asia. From the 1800s to today, our wines have won awards all over the world, and our blue label has always been the best-known Brunello.

The Fattoria dei Barbi today is owned by Stefano Cinelli Colombini, who continues a story that sees the Colombini family linked to these lands for more than six centuries; a very long time in which the family has always defended the traditions and values ​​of the Montalcino culture, whose last and most precious fruit is Brunello.

Tasting Notes

Packaged with its dark blue label. the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino displays a very specific character that I always recognize in this wine. The house style is a callout to local winemaking tradition in which there is a slightly wild side to the cherry fruit and forest floor aromas. The oak spice is smoothly integrated into the medium-weight texture, and there is earthy spice and root at the back. The wine closes with freshness, bitter plum and rusty metal.
