Description

The CastelGiocondo Estate, owned by the historic Frescobaldi family, is a prestigious Tuscan winery in Montalcino known for producing world-class Montalcino wines. The Castle was build as an ancient stronghold in 1100 to defend the road leading from the sea to Siena and its historic importance is represented on the label of Castelgiocondo by the figure of a condottiere (Lord) from a celebrated fresco of the Sienese artist Simone Martini

The property is one of the first 4 to begin producing Brunello di Montalcino in 1800 - Located at an altitude of 300m in the South-west of Montalcino, it has an ideal terroir for the production of Sangiovese. Vintage after vintage is reviewed with high scores by all major critics.
The estate produces a flagship Brunello, a Super-Tuscan Blend (Lamaione) and a Brunello Riserva is made in years of exceptional vintages.

Tasting Notes

The Frescobaldi 2019 Brunello di Montalcino CastelGiocondo has oaky notes, dried spice, redwood and cured tobacco. At its core, the wine shows dark fruit and a thick level of extraction. The tannins are soft and resolved, setting this Brunello up for an immediate drinking window. The wine is exactly where you want it to be, especially if served across from a steak.
